Tuesday night

so when i am offered free tickets to journey and death lepard on a tuesday night, i say why not...
if you know me, im a secretive journey fan. sadly rebecca and i missed journey and had to settle for def lepard.
things that we noticed and observed
1. they wern't fat
2. the basist needed to pull up his pants, it was getting unconfortable and i think he waxes.
3. the set should have been shorter, their songs require a large amt of screaming- thus the lead guy (i should know his name) lost his voice half way through.
4. the ford ampitheater still sucks. and they turned off thier field speakers - i would complain, but it was free
5. the free tickets included a ride to the event with a limo - which we had to decline due to the fact rebecca was on the howard frankland in traffic and we already had dinner plans. but the miller light beer girls promised wrist bands, free beer and food. when we got there. the miller light girls were Gone. not suprising.
6. dont sit in the field sit on the retaining wall along the main walkway - you can see the stage sorta and the screens...
7. bring your camera. by far some of the best people watching in a while...did you know it was salsa night at the ford amp? well one lady did and dressed up for it.

Road Trip Planning

I have to admit, the last road trip went on with friends was back in 2000 when we got a mini-van and went to the keys... fun times. lots of bars and drinks... good memories
this trip, I am headed to Bonnaroo.
I have been on many other adventurous trips since 2000
but they involved planes and passports.

so far the plan is...
leave for atlanta... pick up the rv... drive to tennesee... set up camp.

i have been searching online for tips and tricks for bonnaroo.
my only experience at such an event was the Reading Festival 2004 in England. but that didnt require much planning cause i wasent camping. but what i did learn from that event was to purchase a good pair of wellies. ( ie.wellingtons to americans.... rubber boots)
so the boots are packed and im watching the weather. guess what. a tropical depression over cuba! that means rain for florida that weekend... but tennesee? dont know...
so other than wellies... ive looked online for others packing recomendations and found an excell spreadsheet and i have tweeked it for our RV 'camping'. I also found mention of flags and flagpoles... which i have decided to make my own. so far so good the paint is drying.
as for the flagpole. its amazing how cheep 1/2" pvc pipe is. hope the zip ties work!

so. this month started off on the first with
1. breaking up with the guy i was seeing
2. a car accident
3. wiplash & continuous headaches
4. my dip stick and sleeve breaking rendering my car useless.
5. i need to get my cv boot cover fixed - but hopefully thats all it is, and its not my axil.
my car is my achillies tendon. if it goes. i am totally at a loss.

this black cloud that has been following me around all month must go NOW. i dont know physically how much more of it i can take.

lets look back at the history of sara and other things that have gone on in the month of april....most of them trivial.
-stolen check card and more than $2,000 in charges to my checking account
-last year i was sick for my birthday
-bad date with jesus fish boy

- dissapearing boyfriends in s. florida - but that turned out to be a really good thing... but odd at the time.
-i remeber crying as a kid cause some one gave me a ticket to the disney easter parade then took it back
-the 'win-dixie' birthday incedent. "sara, what would you like for your birthday -?" "all i want is a publix cake" and what did my mom get me. a win-dixie cake. i cried, i was 16
-the YEARS of having my birthday during finals week - all the design kids had gone home, all the regular students had exams. Loreen took a break from her studying to take me out to get drunk when i turned 21- that was the best :)
**-the ultimate. car accident on friday the 13th, 1984 - hit the windshield THEN the next day slammed my thumb in a car door and lost my thumbnail. tramatic -still to this day i cant look at fingernail or toe nail injuries.

i know there is much much more... maybe its a seasonal thing?

monday night i was rear ended by 2 girls in a brand new toyota.
i had stoped at a red light, waited for a handicapped man to finish crossing the street in the crosswalk before i turned right on a green light.
seems the girls were not paying attention. and were traveling at about 25-30 mph.
basically i believe i have wiplash. I am in pain in my neck, sholders and back.
tommrow i will go to a doctor and get check out - its just now a whole mess of car insurance and car repairs. as we know my car was not in the best of shape. this may have put it over the edge... it dosent look that physically bad. but its banged up, and knowing jettas, theres atleast $2,000 in body work. and acoring to blue book. thats about all my car is worth.

so for st. patricks day - I was booked to do some irish dancing and then teach a group of people how to do a simple jig and a simple reel. I was quite nervous about this cause this was the first time the boy will have seen me dance, and I had NO clue what this place was going to be like... luckly. it turned out to be a pretty good event, and the crowed really like me... but... I turned my foot and kept dancing... then i went to dunnedin, drank , and walked about 2 miles. so that night, and then the next day, my foot hurt. swollen and really not fun. then i worried that i did something bad to it. but now, its monday, still a bit swollen, a bit sore, but overall. i think its going to be ok. good thing cause i dont have insurance till april 1st.

After a few years of going to gasparilla, i have assembled a few guidelines and tips. for me and for others... here are some of the best.
Bulid A BASE!
sara is not allowed to stand on coolers.
sara can not fly - so no standing on coolers
sit during the parade. its safer.
sara is not allowed at the knight parade
Contact dermititus happens when you drink carona's with limes in the sun and it takes months to heal
bring extra drinks to discretely sell or give to pirates for good beads
give water to the cops. and help them with directions cause they dont know where they are
make jean cook you breakfast in the am. she's REALLY good at it.

This weekend while watching Diamonds are Forever, i realized that James Bond wasent just an international man of mystery...
he was good at his job, good at swimming and scubadiving, good at flying things, good at shooting things and people, martial arts and he was good with the ladies. They say very good. but this brings up the biggest part of James Bonds job discription. he was an AMAZING multi-tasker...
serisouly, he could do his job, have time for tranning and have lots of time for romancing the ladies.

there are too many new shows i want to watch, and i'm not sure when they are on...! help!
I could break down and get a DVR. but... we all know that would be the death of my social life... but you can tape more than one program at a time, and then fast foreward through the commericals...maybe i should get one and be more productive with my tv watching time...
they keep moving my arrested development, and that throws me off....but there are new shows that are turning out to be pretty good... that how i met your mother, has one of the freeks from freeks and geeks and they are starting a new beauty and the geek, and american idol auditions... the best part of the show.... and so much more. scrubs was pretty good last night... but im starting to get behind with my tv! eek.

So tonight, to celebrate finding an alf... we went to the golden corral....
i was timid, for the fact that the last one i went to was shitty. this one. was nice.
our waitress was wonderful, the food was actually really good. except for the free range children that were a tripping hazard. all was O-K!
We went after i got off from work, so i was dressed semi professionally. this proved to be appreciated by the patrons of this pinellas park/largo golden corral. I swear that every man in there was checking me out. creepy yet flattering. damn i wish i had my camera.

dear friends,
its not that i dont like you, or that i dont care... i really do. but due to work and my "restrictions"
i cant email at work, and we all know that email is my easiest form of conversation....

im not a phone talker, ive never been... and i have to work on that
and i like to go to bed at a reasonable time - so late night emails arnt in the forcast....

ill ramble up on this thing about things going on, but not all of them are really personable...

as for me....works really busy, and so busy that im exausted in the evening and dont have time to do other projects. projects that need to be done (most before thanksgiving)

yea! so eventful weekend helping rebecca with her stuf in her place and getting that all settled, got dressed up, slept an extra hr and just had a good weekend over all. so tonight, halloween, jess came over and we gave out candy, to lets count them 5 groups of kids. maybe 6. but really no more....
it seems that down the street, they did it up so so so much better, you would hear the kids and the parents yell as they walked down the street....lets go to 17th!
so jess and i did, and wow. they did UP halloween. looked for the mystery television producer / free lance camera guy from shuffleboard... no luck... but anyways had a great time. yea halloween.

ok. so lately i have been having a hell of a time finding pants that fit. im short, and have a rather big butt and good sized thighs...
we have all had some problem or another finding pants that fit, expecially jeans.
and im sorry, i can not do low-rise.... if i do, i get a certain nickname that someone once gave me that wasent that pleasant....

anyways...after having looked for about a year... there may be hope...
"curvy" jeans from the gap.
(yes... the gap. is the gap actually going to start selling clothes i can fit into again?) maybe yes?

yep. the vacation was great.
but comming back to postponed deadlines, more deadlines and other 'issues' that poped up while i was gone, basically canceled the whole vacation benifits - except for the pictures and the fun times had. but the relaxation part flew out the door when I landed back at TIA.

so this brings me to the next topic, i guess a subtopic.
how to attempt to get myself back to normal sara ness while at home.
suggestions always welcomed....

i got to wear jeans and sweaters, hiked in a gorge, and saw a log jam. it was just what i needed. what i didnt need was returning to work...

February 2001 - a group of my friends and I went to New Orleans for a feis (irish dancing competition - rhymes with hess-or as shauna says fish fest.)
for most it was their second or 3rd time being there, for me it was my first.
sadly i didnt have my digital camera at that time, but loreen did, here are some of the pictures she took...
it was cold, a bit rainy, but we had a great time using the competition as an excuse to hit the french quarter and the sites!

I am so extatic that i am getting away... so excited..
but sadly, work has me totally busy to the point of frustration untill i leave town. and it was discussed at last weeks meeting
"when someone is on vacation... don't call them or expect to hear from them regarding you questions...."
ok. i can follow that rule.
so i hop on a plane tommrow afternoon. before then, i need to do work, wash dishes, laundry, pack, feed the kitties, do more work, and some more work, get presentations together and stuff for a meeting downtown regarding a project, then poof. im gone.
what should i pack? weather? events? still figuring that out...
i think that if i just went some where and hid for 5 days id be just as happy. but even better i get to go and do fun things.
yea. things im looking foreward to... checking out aprils new digs, talking to zoe, meeting mystery boysam, buying some shoes, cooling off in some cooler weather, walking alot, eating stuff (sadly not cookies or sugar or things that i like to eat), talking to strangers on the plane, seeing salt lake from the air... sleeping.

My boycott of MTV excluded the hedious Mtv Music video awards...that sujen girl has the MOST annoying voice... and whos going to get shot next? sadly, i think kanye better watch out! i thought it proved my point. mtv is gone to shit. was it cause i was young and i thought that they were "cool" or ahead of the times? but now... bad camera angles, and terrable editing!

ok. so the warped tour is today. and my office is about 4 blocks from the site. public school is in for all the kiddies... so i guess they had to take the day off.
should be fun to watch. last year there were all these kids, all excited looking in the morning, by afternoon, they were so dehydrated they looked dead. why why why do they schedule these things in florida in August? i plan on taking my camera with me where ever i go today and tying to take picures of the most outrageous of the kids trying to look "cool"

yesterday i encountered a HUGE swarm of flies. Big flies. and they were scarry... i rolled up my window so that i would not be engulfed.
the red tide that we had about amonth ago has created these mammoth flies. they are scarry when alone, even scarrier when in a giant swarm....
ew. flies.

ok. if we only have 16 weekends left in hurricane season and 11-14 tropical storms and 7-9 actual hurricanes...that makes for a busy end of summer.... and really...i already have plans.

hurricanes hardly happen...
on week days.
only on weekends. so from now on there will be a hurricane or tropical storm every weekend if my math surves me correct.... the 11-14 topical storms do not count the 7-9 hurricanes. and we all know that these storms will in some way affect the state of florida.

so hurricanes (and tropical storms) please do not affect the following events:
1. the killers concert (that is if my tickets EVER come in..) it is indoors, but still. people spook
2. my trip to portland for laborday. that would just suck. but for safety, i did schedule to fly out before and after the weekend
3. the weezer concert. (again indoors but still)
4. Journey - outdoors
5. Coldplay - outdoors
6. any other trips or events that come up! you already screwed up my itchnetuckey trip. i hate you.

So tonight, someone put their skis in my trashcan...well its not just my trashcan... but the point is that there are SNOW skis in my trash can. including the poles.
about 50% of me wanted to pull them out and take some funny pictures in the alley or in the park. or even in the bay. but 50% of me said "its hot, and humid - and i have to have someone elese take the pictures while i look silly"

why is it that when things get busy, they just get busier?
its like the dating drought affect, sometimes theres nothing out there, then all of a sudden... when it rains it pours...
im not complaining by anymeans... just that there are only 7 days in a week and sara can only do so much! so busy busy sara.... surviving the week! look at me go. and its only monday!

ok this recaps an event back on july 1st...
the evening begain on the street for what they call 'frist friday' we were enjoying the sites waiting for friends, when this older man kept walking back and forth. ofcourse it was me who noticed that his hand was missing. but it wasent ampitated, it was down the front of his pants....
now this wasen't so crazy. there are always a few disturbed people doing odd things in st. pete. elderly, homeless, crazy, junkies....
one of my guy friends who joined us that night was a bit shocked that us girls go out in downtown st pete with all of these locals...and our reponse to them...this is nothing. jessica being from dc, rebecca being from boston, and me. though a native floridian...well traveld and not easily shocked.

it wasent till the bars were starting to close and we were leaving that we witnessed the best of all the sites of the night. drunk, messy bum looking man, HUMPING. the sidewalk. not doing push-ups... but actually seriously humping the sidewalk....
and my responce to this is...

"thats Crazy, like san francisco crazy. "

and jessica and i keep walking down the sidewalk. poor jeremy. i think he was scared from the event.

I think my cat has Turrets syndrome.
so leia, the fatter of the 2 cats i have last night started making this cat fight meow grunt thing. and i go to see what she found... a cat out the window, a big roach, possibly a fruit rat found its way indoors...and theres nothing. and shes looking at me like "what?"
about an hr or so passes, and again, shes just sitting on the floor, frank is nowhere close to her, and she makes the evil noise again.
during the night, i would randomly hear more evil noises.
I'm kinda worried.....

Lots of things... lots and lots of things
the list includes (i'm all about lists right now-possibly because my brain is overloaded)
1. work - lots of it. too much of it
2. I am getting to pick out a nursing home for my father. something that you don't uasually think of when your 29. so far so good
3. Learning about medicaid, medicare, va benifits, social security.....and applications
4. did i mention work was busy?
5. there could be a hurricane this weekend...
6. then the london bombings this morning. the family over there is safe and ok.
7. dating. trying to focus 'some' time to that project....

weekdays are consisting of work mostly, but have mannaged to squeeze in some fun times with friends as well. Highlights include, meeting some new babies who are really cute and have great parents, hanging out in dive bars with friends, seeing a movie or two, buying concert tickets, floating down spring fed rivers and planning more events floating down spring fed rivers

so its saturday. and its not raning out... but i can not think of a better way to spend the day but to have the tv on silent, and 5 windows open on my computer with the different stages for live 8 on.
god love the internet.

saras highlights so far:
1. the opening in london, i saw it live. just a good strong start with paul and bono and the boys.
2. the stages! after witnessing the events that can be held in europe, great respect for the event of this all
3. the crowds... if they had more stages in the states.... mahem would happen
4. the verve and coldplay! awsome!
5. UB40. i love those guys so fun. one guy wins a lawsuit from a fight, and the next thing they are a reggae band
6. annie lenox rocks. and will always rock.
7. faith hill... not that great. dosent command the crowd.
8. I missed antino bochelli.
9.brad pitt is just plain ol' hot
10. mtv sucks
11. aol online for the philly stage sucks.... they show commercials. thats wrong
12. the london crowd changing "living on a prayer"
13. joss stone is great.
14. poor snowpatrol and the killers who got their sets shortened. but madonna was great

saturday night i left to go to orlando...but got to watch some more footage...and some more comments

16. ricky gervis did his dance. it was awsome.
17. travis was great. i wish i got to see the video behind them during "why does it always rain on me" they compared the amt to debt to shoes and barbie dolls.
18. there is this one point, franz ferdinand is playing in the bkground (it was a film they would show) i think it was after madonna?... there is a helicopter hovering over the city of london, then the camera pulls back and you realize its from another helicopter far far away on the other side of the park. and its just the coolest james bond kinda thing.
19. apple wearing cute pink headphones. so sweet. so caring of the parents.

pure joy.

it reminds me of the time, loreen and i were traveling by bus through the beautiful irish country side and the bus driver pops in the tape and all the passengers start singing along. it was one of those movie type moments. we all need to have more of those!

and my last name, I can understand that it is a lost cause. I dont think it was untill i was 7 that i could say my last name remotely correct.
yes. 2 years of speach class got me to say my R's. it was quite tramatic. i was the only one in the class who couldent say R's. everyone elese was talking like cindy brady spitting out their S's. and they would gang up on me. and then when i would make fun of them, they would just make fun of me back and it was this vicious circle, and I was outnumbered.

and thats fine. but i never had a problem with my name or the letter 'L'

Wednesday nights tv was so bad it was actually great!

8:00 - the WB Beauty and the Geek
the concept is, get a few beautiful women who are as dumb as bricks together with some geeky guys and then make them help eachother with their weeknesses. thought up by aston kercher. It's much better than Average Joe which bascially made fun of the guys.

9:00 - ABC Dancing with the Stars
so bad. it started off good. joey from the new kids danced his little feet off. but professional boxers should not be allowed to dance ever. J Peterman - did a good job too! now this show is one of a slew of shows comming from across the pond. England has Great reality tv. and its about time for the networks here to catch on.

10:00 - BRAVO Sports kids moms and dads
part 3 of the series. ive been a big fan since the beginning. show dog moms and dads was my favorite so far. cause it was so bad. some of these parents actaully SCARE me.
